Researchers seek cause of bovine heart disease

Veterinary researchers are trying to identify genetic risk factors, biomarkers and early signs of bovine congestive heart failure, a fatal disease that is becoming more common in feedlot cattle. Feedlot crews have identified a bulldog-like stance as an early sign, and a pot-bellied appearance often develops, says veterinary epidemiologist Brian Vander Ley.
